Loft Conversions
Stage One – week 1-2
Step one of the conversion involves stripping the existing tiles and felt from the roof, fabricating and installing the RSJ’s (steels). The floor joists are then laid.
Stage Two – week 3-4
The dormer/mansard is created and then the whole structure is battened, felt added, insulated and tiled. At this stage the structure is weather tight.
Stage Three – week 5-6
The internal walls are constructed and the staircase installed in the space formed in the floor joists. All electrical wiring is run for the lighting and sockets, the pipework is laid for the central heating and the ensuite, if there is one. At this point all first fix work is complete and plaster boarding can commence.
Stage Four – week 7-8
The internal walls and ceiling are plastered and the final roof tiles are replaced. If there is an ensuite, the bathroom fixtures are installed and internal tiling is also done. All second fix timber work is done at this stage. The conversion is then ready for decoration. (We can provide a decoration service at extra cost, or you may choose to do this yourself or use your own decorating firm.)
